NILES, Ohio - Investigators blame an electrical problem for sparking a fire that damaged Planet Fitness and the Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities offices in Niles.

Crews were called out to Planet Fitness, located on Youngstown-Warren Road, when a fire broke out in the gym's break room just before 5 am Thursday. 

The fire had been contained by the gym's sprinkler system before first responders arrived. 

The 24-hour gym was closed until a clean up was completed Thursday afternoon.

The superintendent of the Board of Developmental Disabilities tells 21 News several offices below Planet Fitness were compromised, however, they were able to salvage the computers. 

The offices house eight employees, who have been moved to different offices. 

A crew has been called out to help clean up the building, which is owned by Covelli Enterprises. 

Damage is estimated at $6,000.
