Mahoning Green Team launches new recycling system

The group is replacing its current 30 yard bins with smaller, eight yard bins in a larger quantity at each recycling site in the county.
The smaller bins will allow for onsite disposal, rather than hauling the entire bin to the recycling facility in Poland Township.
The previous removal system was problematic, especially for sites on the west end of the county like Sebring and Belloit, according to Mary Gresh of the Green Team.
Gresh says the rural areas could go an entire day without recycling bins on site while waiting for the containers to be returned.
Bin replacements are expected to be finished by Tuesday.
A regular recycling schedule will be established with the new system, adding an additional pick up day on Saturdays in Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, and Poland.
Green Team recycling is single stream, meaning recyclable materials can be mixed together.
A full listing of accepted recycling material is available at the Green Team's website.
