YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - There was a major victory for Concerned Citizens of Mill Creek MetroParks Thursday night.

The Mill Creek Board of Commissioners approved a proposal stating that any major decision made by executive director Aaron Young has to be approved by the board first.

This comes after months of public outcry and backlash over Young's decision to restructure the park and lay off a dozen park employees in February.

While some in the community wanted Young fired, they also wanted transparency. Dozens of people have been showing up at each board meeting calling for change.

Commissioners say this move will allow the public to have more input in major decisions.

“He'll report to us now,” said John Ragan, president of the board of commissioners. “We wanted more transparency as far as the major issues. Really haven't changed his job description. It's more just a policy change inside the board itself now.”
