Tactical grenade explosion injures worker at Mercer County business
An employee of a Mercer County weapon manufacturer is recovering from an injury received when a tactical grenade exploded in his hand on Thursday.

GREENE TOWNSHIP, Mercer Co, Pa - An employee of a Mercer County weapon manufacturer is recovering from an injury received when a tactical grenade exploded in his hand on Thursday.
Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Cadman tells 21 News that his department's Quick Response Unit was called to Combined Systems on Kinsman Road shortly after 10:30 a.m.
The chief says that for an unknown reason, the grenade exploded while the worker was handling it.
The grenade, which is designed to be less lethal, contains rubber pellets and is used to control crowds.
The victim, whose name has not been released, suffered a deep laceration on his hand, according to the chief.
The employee was flown by medical helicopter to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown as a precaution.
Leni Forston, of the U.S. Department of Labor, tells 21 News that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is aware of the incident and is looking into it.
According to the company website, Combined Systems, Inc. designs, manufactures, and markets security products for defense and law enforcement markets.
They make products for riot control, police tactical teams, corrections officers, and military units.
