WaterFire returning to Sharon in 2017
With one more WaterFire event yet to be held this year, organizers have announced plans for next year's fiery spectacles in Sharon.

SHARON, Pa. - With one more WaterFire event yet to be held this year, organizers have announced plans for next year's fiery spectacles in Sharon.
According to a news release, WaterFire dates for 2017 are July 15, August 19, and September 23. All of those days are Saturdays.
2017 will be the fifth summer that WaterFire Sharon has been held in Sharon since the event was introduced in 2013 when more than 50 braziers filled with cedar and pine were set ablaze.
After a full day of an arts and music festival, the evening activities commence with a ceremonial lighting of the braziers which are tended to and remain burning until midnight.
“This year’s “WaterFire Sharon” events are on track to draw tens of thousands of attendees into downtown Sharon” said WaterFire’ s Co-Chair Chip Mastrian. “We know there has been an economic impact for the region by way of increased business, new business openings, and certainly by the maintenance and upkeep of the downtown area.”
WaterFire Sharon will hold its last lighting of the 2016 season on Saturday, September 24th, with a theme of “Destination Imagination”.
Teachers, volunteers and members of Sharon’s Beautification Committee and Sharon Schools’ Hall of Fame inductees will be featured torchbearers in the ceremonial lighting.
