YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The YWCA of Youngstown broke ground Thursday on a five-unit housing project.

Once completed, the project will provide affordable housing for low- to moderate-income families and veteran families at risk of homelessness.

The $596,488 project will house a minimum of 12 individuals and six families annually through a combination of transitional and permanent supportive housing.

The YWCA intends to partner with Section 8 and VASH voucher programs to assist in keeping the rent affordable for tenants.

The property is located on the 1300 block  Kensington Ave.
