ALLIANCE, Ohio - With the new Trolls movie out, those little creatures with the wild hair are back in the spotlight. It works out pretty well for Sherry Groom, who has the largest troll collection in the world.

When you walk into The Troll Hole in Alliance, they're everywhere. Floor to ceiling, wall to wall, hidden in artwork, posters, and thousands of pieces of memorabilia, Sherry Groom's world record troll collection is on full display.

"It went from one bedroom in the house that was floor to ceiling trolls. Then I had to start putting them in boxes, which pained me greatly, to finally having a museum space where I started pulling them all out and counting them," said Groom.

When she did count them, it was enough for a Guinness World Record. That was three years ago, and since then the number has almost doubled to 6,448. Guinness is in the process of verifying the new mark.

"We had our officials come in, curators from Massillon museum and verify the results. We had to create charts and document and photograph all these trolls, and it took most of the summer because first we had to arrange and figure out where to lay them all out because I actually have more trolls now than fit on the shelves that I have in the museum," said Groom.

When you include all the memorabilia, we're talking almost 20-thousand pieces in the museum. For Sherry, Main Street in Alliance is the perfect spot.

"This particular part of town, this historic Main Street, was abandoned by the traditional business people and undervalued, so all the properties here are really cheap. Where do trolls show up? In places that aren't valued by humans," said Groom.

Thanks to the new movie, they are once again a hot topic. It is already part of the tour, giving Sherry another chance to add to her collection.

"Remember Dreamworks just released all this new merchandise, so it spent me on a buying spree," said Groom. "Christmas, Halloween, birthday all rolled into one."

The museum goes far beyond just the movie characters and the dolls, though. You walk into a different room on the tour and you get a full-fledged history lesson on trolls across the globe.

"Trolls came from those Norwegian countries: Scandanavia, Norway, Finland, and Iceland, so we talk about those history," said Groom. "From the Danish type trolls, smaller and more gnome-like, to the great big Norwegian ones."

It is the back-story that first got Sherry interested and now she's sharing that passion with the world.

The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-5pm, along with special events.
