One of the most dangerous times of the year on the nation's roads and highways is the time around the holidays.

Sometimes people get a little too festive at parties and end up driving intoxicated.

You have heard of the moving Vietnam war memorial.  The DUI moving memorial trailer is something similar.  Inside the trailer is the names of over 3000 men, women and children who died as a result of an alcohol related crashes in Pennsylvania since the 1980's.

The memorial travels all over the keystone state to show there are actual people who have died.  Names means more than statistics.

"As a first responder, getting that call or responding to that call, it's something that sticks with you and it's something that you carry through your career. Out of those tragedies it inspires you to get those people off the street," said Sharon Patrolman, Adam Zazado.

The goal of the moving memorial is to encourage drivers to make safe choices while behind the wheel.

"Drinking and driving is something you don't want to do and it is something that is preventable by making a phone call or just saying I'll be the designated driver tonight," said PSU faculty member Maureen Dunn.

"It's really definitely humbling," said PSU Junior, Holly Masters. "It's crazy because you see how many people it effects and people of all ages."

Each year more names are added to the memorial, last year alone, 345 of them.  Police say it just doesn't have to continue if people would just think of others before they drive.
