It's a parents worst nightmare -- their child, who they say, has dealt with mental illness his entire life has gone missing.

"I just want him to know I love him and I just want him to come home, I don't care what he's done," said Stephanie Sample.

A missing person report has been filed for 22 year-old Kenneth Brandon Sample, known to family and friends as Brandon. Brandon's parents say they last saw their son late Sunday night, as he left home saying he was driving a friend to Akron. But, the next morning Brandon still had not returned home.

"I called the cell phone it rang and rang, then went to voice mail," said Brandon's Father Kenneth Sample. "So then I hung up and texted him, asked him where he was at. I got a text back saying 'on my way home."

Brandon's parents say their son suffers from mental illness and turned to pills as a way to cope.

"I have talked to him about that and I've told him that he needs to get some help and we've tried to get him help but, you can't force a 22 year-old to do anything they don't want to do," said Brandon's Mother Stephanie Sample. "Mental illness is scary and I just knew this was going to happen. I knew something like this was going to happen. The only thing that makes sense is saying that something bad is going to have to happen for him to understand what he's doing but, now I'm afraid it's too late."

Brandon's family says police found their sons car abandoned Monday morning near the Niles Greenway bike trail off of State Street.

Police say that although it appears that someone had intentionally driven the car into a wooded area, they say there are no signs of foul play.

Tuesday afternoon, Brandon's family and friends were in the area searching.

"Basically just grasping at straws, maybe I'll find something of his back there, I don't know," said Kenneth Sample.

The family says just two days before he went missing, Brandon had asked for help.

"Friday he got up and said I want help. He said this is the first time that he wanted to stop," said Kenneth Sample.

The family is now praying it's not too late and are desperate for anyone who knows something to contact Warren or Niles police.
