Amazon goes on hiring spree with 1,400 jobs to fill in Ohio
Amazon is preparing to hire thousands of workers with job fairs across the country, including one at its fulfillment center outside Columbus.

Amazon is preparing to hire thousands of workers with job fairs across the country, including one at its fulfillment center outside Columbus.
Amazon Jobs Day will focus on filling 50,000 permanent positions across its fulfillment network where workers package and ship out items ordered on Amazon.com.
The online retail giant is opening up 10 of its centers Wednesday, August 2, from 8 am to 12 pm for the job fair, where candidates can tour the facilities and learn more about the work environment.
Amazon plans to hire 1,400 full-time and part-time workers for its locations in Etna Township and Obetz, Ohio.
The Etna location, which is just outside the city of Columbus, will host the event.
The jobs require physical labor. Employees who work more than 20 hours a week receive benefits, including life and disability insurance, vision and dental insurance and premiums paid in full, along with funding towards medical insurance.
It's possible many who attend the company's job fairs could be hired on the spot.
"You just need to come to our facilities with an ID, proof of education and lots of energy to be able to fulfill Amazon's customer orders," said company spokesperson Adam Sedo.
About 3,000 people currently work at the Etna Township facility and 5,000 total in the state.
Amazon is preparing to keep up with increasing customer demand, with plans to hire 130,000 workers through 2018.
Those who can't attend the jobs fair in person are invited apply for jobs online at www.Amazon.com/JobsDay.
