CLEVELAND,Ohio (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued a fisherman from Lake Erie more than 24 hours after his boat capsized, but a friend he was with died after clutching to the boat for hours.
The Coast Guard says the two men held onto the boat for nearly a day until one of them died early Tuesday morning.
Search crews spotted the overturned boat five hours later about five miles off shore near Cleveland and rescued Lester Hill.
A Coast Guard commander says crews had not found the body of 56-year-old Larry Love.
The Coast Guard official tells Cleveland.com that Hill held onto Love's body after he died, but he had to let go for his own safety.
The two men left from a Cleveland marina Monday morning.
