Ohio State Highway Patrol searches for mountain lion in North Jackson

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, Mahoning County, Ohio - The Ohio State Highway Patrol was on the look out on Thursday for a possible Mountain Lion in North Jackson.
Troopers and the Ohio Department of Wildlife searched the area of Interstate 76 after an officer spotted what he believes was a large cat, estimated to be about 100 pounds.
Officials that searched the area found some paw prints but say they were not consistent with that of a mountain lion.
"These cats aren't native to this area. You have to look at the interest of public safety so we don't want a large mountain lion, tiger or what walking around and risk mulling somebody or attacking somebody so for the interest of public safety we would have to put that animal down," said Sgt. Eric Brown, Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers are encouraging people to call 911 if they see anything unusual.
