Boardman approves plans for new car dealership

BOARDMAN, Ohio - A proposed new car dealership in Boardman is one step away from the start of construction.
Car dealer John Kufleitner plans to build a Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge dealership on Market Street, between J.D. Byrider and Donnell Ford.
His plan to include an employee entrance gate on Scotland Avenue at the rear of the property is upsetting people on the quiet dead end street.
"All the neighbors, they're fine with the dealership. They don't want that entrance there. They don't want more traffic on this road," said Scotland Avenue resident Barry Russell
The entrance at the dead end of Scotland would be for dealership employees only. But Dave McGraw doesn't see the need to access the residential street.
"He has four driveways in and out of the place and we really don't see a need for him to have a driveway access to our street," said McGraw.
At a meeting of the site plan committee, Kufleitner agreed to several plan modifications, including a relocation of the back entrance.
"We're going to move the employee entrance further east, which will cut down the amount of traffic that would be on Scotland," according to committee member Mike Fagan.
"The site committee feels the modifications made to the plan should address the concerns of the property owners. The township also will install speed bumps on Scotland Avenue. There will also be landscaping and a seventy-five-foot buffer zone from the dealership property.
Kufleitner says the 50,000 square foot dealership will create 50 to 60 jobs.
