North Jackson woman killed in traffic accident
A two-car accident took place in North Jackson around 6 p.m. on Friday. According to officials, one car failed to yield and struck a truck. The truck then rolled over into a ditch, and then into a field on it's top. One person is reported by police to have non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection of Blott and Rosemont is currently closed. Officers say it will hopefully be open by 9 p.m.
A fatal accident took place in North Jackson around 6 p.m. on Friday.
According to officials, a man driving a Pontiac Grand Am was driving west on Blott Road when he failed to yield at the intersection of Rosemont Road. This caused him to hit a woman driving a Chevrolet Colorado.
Police say that due to the impact from the crash, the Chevrolet flipped over onto its roof and into a ditch.
Authorities say that the driver of the Chevrolet Colorado, 79-year-old Rachel Wood of North Jackson, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Pontiac, 46-year-old Michael Romigh of Boardman, was taken to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Canfield Post and the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit say they are investigating the crash.
