Investigation underway for Brookfield incident involving Trumbull 911 director
An investigation is now underway into an incident involving the 911 director of Trumbull County dispatch.

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio - An investigation is now underway into an incident involving the 911 director of Trumbull County dispatch.
Director Ernest Cook is accused of allegedly leaving the scene of an accident where a 17-year-old boy's foot was run over.
It happened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday at 840 Crestwood Drive NE in Brookfield Township.
Authorities say the 17-year-old was skateboarding and missed his turn at an intersection. He then jumped off his board and ran into the side of Cook's car.
Cook then allegedly continued on while his son, who was driving right behind him, stopped to help, according to authorities.
The police report says Cook smelled of alcohol and was slurring his words, appearing "highly intoxicated" when police questioned him about the incident.
He told officers he thought he hit a bump, not a person, according to police.
His son, however, said the victim was screaming and that Cook Senior had been driving a convertible with the top down.
Cook consented to a breathalyzer test and registered a .148, according to reports. The legal limit is .08.
Trumbull County Commissioner Mauro Cantalamessa says the commissioners are aware of the situation.
In a statement, Cantalamessa said, "Our 911 director should be held to the highest standard. That position is a position of trust and authority and is one that we take very seriously as a board. We just have to wait and see what other facts come out before swift and deliberate action is taken."
Cook tells 21 News he is cooperating fully with the investigation and has no further comment.
The victim told 21 News that his injuries from the incident are minor.
Ohio State Highway Patrol says no charges have been filed yet but more information is coming Wednesday.
