Millions in Workers Comp rebates coming to the Valley
Rebate checks totaling nearly $40 million are going out to businesses, local governments, and public institutions in the tri-county area.

WARREN, Ohio - Rebate checks totaling nearly $40 million are going out to businesses, local governments, and public institutions in the tri-county area.
The funds are coming from the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation.
Workers Compensation representatives came to Ohio Star Forge in Warren to announce the rebate totals for the Youngstown region.
Statewide, the rebates will total $1.5 billion.
"This is our fourth such rebate, but a $1.5 billion rebate this year is the biggest in two decades," said Mark Clendenin of the BWC Eastern Region.
The rebates represent 85% of the past year's premium and are due in part to safer workplaces and fewer injuries.
A few of the larger checks include; $687,000 for the city of Youngstown, $613,000 for Mahoning County Commissioners, $723,000 for Trumbull County and $225,000 for Columbiana County.
The BWC is hoping these millions in rebates will be used to further worker safety in Ohio. "Safer workplaces mean fewer injuries, fewer claims, and a more stable workforce, all of which leads to a healthier bottom line," Clendenin added.
The president of Ohio Star Forge says worker safety has to be a top priority. "It's probably the single most important thing that the company can do, protect the employees from harm," said Bill Orbach, presidents and CEO.
Rebate checks should arrive in mailboxes this month.
