YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - A mailman was taken to the hospital Friday after police said he was attacked by two dogs while delivering to a Youngstown home.
Police said when they got to the home on the 100 block of North Garland Avenue around 12:40 pm, the man was bleeding from the bites.
The owner of the dogs told police the mailman was in front of the home by the fence when the dogs escaped the loose gate and lunged for him, according to the police report.
Police said one of the dogs jumped on the mailman's arm, began to bite him and wouldn't let go.
The other dog bit his left thumb.
Neighbors came out with brooms and whatever they could find to fend off the dogs, according to the report.
Police said they could see blood running down his left arm even after being bandaged up by paramedics.
Police also said one dog had blood on its back, mouth and front legs.
The Mahoning County Dog Warden was called to assist in seizing the dogs and charging the dogs' owner for not securing her dogs, according to police.
