SALEM, Ohio - A closure on East State Street is underway in Salem.

The main street that runs through the city is closed between Lincoln Avenue and Ohio Avenue until further notice for concrete repair.

The nearly $1.5 million project will also make repairs on Pershing Avenue and Southeast Boulevard. 

Ken Kenst, the Salem safety-service director, said that these streets were selected because of the heavy truck traffic.

Funding for this project comes from capital improvements and an additional quarter percent city income tax revenue.
