SANDY LAKE, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting to inform motorists on the Route 173 Rehabilitation Project in Mercer County.

The meeting will be on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Sandy Lake Borough Office on South Main Street.

PennDOT officials say the purpose of the meeting is to introduce the project to the public and receive input, including questions and concerns with the project.

The bridge is located on Route 173 (Sandy Lake-New Lebanon Road) near the intersection with Mill Street and the intersection with Patton Road.

The project will include replacement of the superstructure of the bridge, a new beam and cantilever caps at the piers and abutment. Work will also include wider concrete shoulders and a new barrier.

PennDOT officials say the width of the bridge will increase from 26 feet to 29 feet.

Construction is anticipated to start in 2019 and is expected to last three months.
