Telling a Coitsville cop he was a police officer didn't save a driver from a traffic stop. In fact, it landed 49-year-old Darrell Holmes in jail.
Township police tell 21 News when an officer pulled over a car on Route 422 for a traffic violation Wednesday, the driver flashed a badge, claiming he was a member of the New Castle police force.
The Coitsville officer did a little checking and found that Holmes was not an officer for New Castle or any other department.
Holmes was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on a charge of impersonating a police officer.
