Boil alert in part of Niles

Niles has issued a boil alert for a portion of the city.

NILES, Ohio - Niles has issued a boil alert for a portion of the city.

Officials say the alert is in effect for people living in areas between Ohltown McDonald Rd and Salt Springs Road on Niles Carver Road.

The alert is in effect until further notice.

Officials said a transmission pipeline ruptured on Saturday, causing the boil alert to go into effect while tests are being done to determine if the water is safe to drink.
