More car buyers are turning the key on SUVs and trucks and aren't rushing out to buy cars like the fuel-efficient Chevy Cruze.

Auto industry analyst John McElroy was asked what the Trump administration's new proposed fuel economy standards could mean for the Lordstown built sedan.

"Fuel economy standards get tougher this year and they get tougher next year and the year after that, then they're frozen at that level. So, him changing those rules will really not affect sales of the Cruze out of Lordstown at all," said McElroy.

Sales of passenger cars continued to decline last month and are down by 83,000 vehicles.
