UNION TWP., Lawrence Co., Pa. - A Mercer County man has been arrested and charged with robbing a Lawrence County movie theater.

Matthew Chestnut, 42, of Grove City is being held on $50,000 bond in the Mercer County Jail on charges of robbery, theft, and receiving stolen property.

Union Township Police have charged Chestnut with the July 16 robbery of the Westgate Cinemas on West State Street.

Police believe Chestnut was the man who went into Westgate Cinemas and passed a note to an employee demanding money. The suspect left and drove away in a grey conversion van.

Chestnut was arraigned before a district magistrate last week.

Chestnut’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
