Kent State orders recent grad who went viral to stop campus open carry rally

KENT, Ohio - Kent State has ordered a recent graduate who went viral online for posting a picture of herself with a gun on campus from hosting a Second Amendment-style rally at the university.
Kaitlin Bennett, who is best known for those unique graduation photos of her with an AR-10 strapped to her back, had planned the open carry rally for September 29.
The university sent out a statement Wednesday telling Bennett to stop advertising the rally because she allegedly did not register the event and obtain the approvals required by university policy.
According to the statement, the event advertised several non-university affiliated speakers, which the university said does not meet the university policy.
The policy mandates a registered student organization or university department must sponsor the event.
A group planning a counter-protest received the same communication, according to the university.
Bennett replied to the university on Twitter just hours after they posted their statement on social media.
"Kent State is sending is sending out notices saying they canceled my open carry demonstration, but have no right to keep gun owners from legally gathering on campus," said Bennett. "We will be there. September 29th. You can't scare us, and you can't stop us from legally expressing our 2nd amendment rights."
A few hours later, she replied to the university again.
FYI @KentState I'm going through the EXACT same procedures to organize this rally and bring speakers as I did last April, and there was no issue then ?? Members of the public did not need to register with a student group to legally open carry then, and don't now. https://t.co/n20vRC4ufP
