YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown penned a letter Thursday to the president to ask for help on the latest economic distress throughout the Valley.

Brown brought up General Motors eliminating shifts and announcing that it would build the Chevy Blazer in Mexico, the Bureau of Labor Statistic saying that the Valley has lost more jobs than any other area in the nation over the past year and the closure of Youngstown's Northside Hospital.

Brown asked President Trump to keep the promises he gave during the speech at the Covelli Centre back in 2017.

The president said the administration would revitalize the Mahoning Valley's economy and spoke of the glory days of steel production in the area.

Brown says he was campaigning for mayor when the president promised that jobs would come back to the Valley and urged residents to not sell their houses because the property value would go up.

The mayor said those words inspired him because President Trump was promising to help make his vision for the city become a reality.

Brown wrote in the letter that he's willing to do anything and everything he can to help keep the president's word on bringing jobs back to the Valley.

Brown said a healthy start would be if the local branch of the Veteran's Administration could be relocated to the soon-to-be-vacant Northside Hospital. He says the VA clinic is inadequate and now the Valley has a perfect place for a much-needed facility for veterans.

Brown wrote in the letter that he looks forward to speaking with the president to discuss how the city can involve the administration in ongoing efforts to strengthen the economy, create good-paying jobs, increase real estate values and improve the quality of life in the Mahoning Valley.
