WARREN, Ohio - Judges have denied an appeal sought by a Trumbull County man who is serving 18-years-to-life in prison for fatally shooting his wife.

Calling the appeal "frivolous", the 11th District Court of Appeals has upheld the conviction of 62-year-old Ricky Green, who pleaded guilty more than two years ago to one count of murder for the January 2016 shotgun death of his wife, Janell Green at their Green Township home.

Green told a 911 dispatcher that he fired a shotgun at his wife as she sat in a chair at their home on Wakefield Creek because he believed she was being unfaithful.

The appeals court found that the trial court made no errors in the case.

According to state records, Green won't be eligible for his first parole hearing until 2033.
