LISBON, Ohio - A former Salem man who was accused of exposing himself to children won't serve any prison time but has been labeled as a sex offender.
During a Friday hearing in Columbiana County Common Pleas Court for 63-year-old Darshan Singh, Judge Ashley Pike ordered that he be placed on probation for five years, and also declared him a Tier One Sex Offender.
Singh pleaded guilty in June to interference with custody, and two counts of unlawful restraint.
Under a plea agreement, two more counts of unlawful restraint, another count of interference with custody and one count of public indecency were dismissed.
The indictment handed up against Singh, who now lives in Solon, Ohio, alleges that he attempted to have sexual contact with two children, both less than 13-years-old, on August 10, 2016.
The indictment also stated that Singh purposefully caused physical harm to one of the children, exposing his “private parts”.
