Nearly 3,000 walk for Suicide Prevention in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Valley came together Saturday afternoon in the name of those who have died or been impacted by suicide.
21 News sponsored the 2018 "Out of the Darkness Youngstown, Ohio Community Walk" at Mill Creek Park.
The walk is in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. A major theme in this year's walk is that it's OK to not be OK and to seek help and not be afraid to talk about suicide.
Event Organizers, Cindy and Steve Orslene say reaching out may not seem like much, but it can make all the difference for someone contemplating suicide or self-harm. "Everybody needs that one person to just talk to and say 'how are you doing?' and I think that would go a long way in helping to solve the issue."
Volunteers say around 3,000 people participated in this year's walk. Organizers say this is a big increase from the event in 2017.
