WARREN, Ohio - Three-and-a-half years after investigators say Jacob Larosa raped and fatally beat a 94-year-old neighbor, the Niles teenager is set to be sentenced today.
A sentencing hearing is scheduled for Larosa today before Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Wyatt McKay.
In February, Larosa pleaded no contest to charges of aggravated murder, attempted rape and theft.
Prosecutors say LaRosa was just 15 on March 31, 2015, when he broke into the Niles home of Marie Belcastro, raped her and beat her to death with a heavy metal flashlight.
The Trumbull County Prosecutor is asking the court to keep the teen behind bars for the rest of his life.
Defense attorneys representing Larosa, who is now 19-years-old, want the judge to take into account Jacob's childhood and mental health.
