A Canfield man is going to jail for three months followed by six months of house arrest for a traffic crash that killed a child in Indiana.

WAYNE, Ind. - A Canfield man is going to jail for three months followed by six months of house arrest for a traffic crash that killed a child in Indiana.
Anthony Zircher, 46, of Callahan Road appeared in Wayne County Indiana Court Thursday where a judge approved a plea of guilty to reckless homicide, a fifth-degree felony.
The plea agreement allowed Zircher to avoid trial for the traffic death of a 5-year-old girl on May 11 in Wayne Township, Indiana.
According to the Indiana State Police, Zircher was driving in a no passing zone when his vehicle was involved in a fatal crash.
Troopers say Zircher's Hyundai had just passed a pickup truck over a double yellow line and was about to pass a second vehicle along Route 227 when it ran head-on into a southbound Toyota driven by Britney Lee Byrley, age 24, of Brownsville Indiana.
Byrley, who was seriously injured was taken to a hospital along with an infant who suffered injuries state police say were not life-threatening.
Five-year-old Jocelyn Grace Gesell, who was also a passenger in the Toyota, was flown by medical helicopter to a Dayton, Ohio hospital where she later died.
Both children involved in the crash were properly restrained in child seats, according to police.
Zircher was also taken to a hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening at the time.
The road was closed for two hours while a crash reconstruction team conducted an investigation.
When Zircher completes his 90-day sentence at the Indiana Department of Corrections, he will be allowed to return to Canfield where he will serve 180 days under electronically monitored house arrest.
In a separate civil case, the parents of the little girl have filed a negligence lawsuit against Zircher in Federal Court.
