WARREN, Ohio - Surveillance cameras that captured video of two burglars trying to steal cigarettes from a Warren Dollar General Store, showed them walking away instead with $500 worth of laundry detergent.
When officers arrived at the Niles Road SE Store at about 1:30 am Monday, they could see that someone had smashed windows to get inside.
The store video shows one of the men taking packages of Tide laundry pods from the shelf and loading them into a fifty-gallon plastic tote.
The owner of the store told police he had just stocked the shelf with Tide pods earlier in the day.
One of the men also threw bottles of Starbucks coffee and kicked the plexiglass window protecting the cigarette display, but failed to break it.
After leaving the store with the stolen detergent, police brought out a K9 but were not successful in tracking them down.
