YSU Volleyball: Thompson posts second straight double-double in 3-0 loss to Green Bay
Margaux Thompson posted 12 kills and 13 digs as the Youngstown State volleyball team fell 3-0 to Horizon League-leading Green Bay on Friday evening at Beeghly Center.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Margaux Thompson posted 12 kills and 13 digs as the Youngstown State volleyball team fell 3-0 to Horizon League-leading Green Bay on Friday evening at Beeghly Center. The set scores were 25-19, 25-20, 25-20.
Thompson was the only player in the match to finish with a double-double, which she accomplished for the second straight contest. Erin Kalahar had six kills on an efficient .375 attack percentage, and Sarah Varcolla recorded a match-best six blocks.
Green Bay, which won its 10th straight match, got 14 kills from Taylor Wolf and 10 from Ashley Sledge.
The Penguins were low-error with just 12 in 125 attempts, but Green Bay limited them to 38 kills. The Phoenix countered with 53 kills, which allowed them to hold a .278-.208 advantage in attack percentage.
YSU didn't trail Green Bay until 10-9 in the first set, and the Penguins tied the score later at 17 on a Brooklen Pe'a kill. The Phoenix got two of their five blocks on the night during an 8-2 run to close the set to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
Green Bay went on another big run in the second set when the difference was just 12-11. A Wolf kill sparked a 7-1 run that put the Phoenix up 19-12, and YSU fought to get within four twice before falling 25-20.
The Phoenix held an 11-9 advantage in the third before opening up a 17-11 lead on an Anna Eaton kill. YSU closed the gap to 18-15, but that's as close as it would get.
Youngstown State will wrap up its four-match homestand on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Milwaukee.
