Authorities have identified the employee of a Youngstown demolition company who died Wednesday as he was tearing down a three-story building in Cleveland.

Cleveland police identify the victim as 64-year-old John Scott of Seven Hills, a suburb south of Cleveland.

According to a police report, the owner of McKinley Industries of Youngstown told officers that Scott was in an excavator attempting to bring down part of the building when the top of the building fell down directly onto the machine where Scott was sitting.

The accident happened just before 5 pm on the demolition site on Evins Avenue on Cleveland's East Side.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
