Man charged after swinging machete and yelling threats in downtown Youngstown
An Austintown man is in jail after allegedly threatening a man with a machete.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - An Austintown man is in jail after allegedly threatening a man with a machete.
Police say 23-year-old Daniel Nelson-Harnevious rode a skateboard to an area near Suzie's Dogs and Drafts on Commerce Street and began to yell threats at the victim at around 4:30 pm on Monday.
According to the report, the victim attempted to deescalate the situation and told Nelson-Harnevious to leave.
Witnesses say Nelson-Harnevious began to swing a machete while yelling 'I have a machete so come at me, bro."
Police say a witness called 911 and Nelson-Harnevious fled the area in a Ford Escape.
According to the report, Nelson-Harnevious pulled up to a police vehicle before the 911 call and told officers that something was going on at Suzie's.
Officers say they believed that he was a witness and told him to go back to the scene to help with the investigation.
Police say that upon speaking with Nelson-Harnevious, officers realized he was part of the incident and asked him if he was involved.
Reports say Nelson-Harnevious told police "yeah I squared up on him and he wasn't man enough to fight me."
Officers say the witnesses identified Nelson-Harnevious and officers searched the vehicle that he used to leave the scene.
Police searched the vehicle and found two machetes, a Space Jam designed wallet and three skateboards.
Nelson-Harnevious is charged with aggravated menacing and is in the Mahoning County Jail.
