Boardman doctor must pay $1.1M tax bill, spend weekends in halfway house
A Boardman Township medical doctor must spend the next few weekends in a halfway house and pay the government $1.1 million in back taxes and interest.

PITTSBURGH - A Boardman Township medical doctor must spend the next few weekends in a halfway house and pay the government $1.1 million in back taxes and interest.
The U.S. Attorney in Pittsburgh tells 21 News that 58-year-old William L. Houser, Jr., could have faced a five-year prison sentence and $250,000 fine after pleading guilty earlier one count of failing to pay taxes.
Houser was sentenced on Thursday to 5 years probation, the first 24 weekends of which must be spent in a half-way house.
In addition, Houser must spend one week at a community confinement center for each of the next five years.
The judge also ordered restitution of the tax loss plus interest which totals $1,118,660.01.
Houser lives in Wexford, Pennsylvania, but according to state medical records has an office in Boardman.
State medical records say Houser specializes in allergies, immunology, and pediatrics.
Investigators say that during a five-year period, Dr. Houser failed to give the IRS money withheld from his employees, as well as employment taxes to cover Social Security and Medicare.
