YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Two Youngstown men will be sentenced for the 2017 shooting death of an amateur boxer on the city's West Side.
Twenty-one-year-old Jesse Stewart, Jr. is scheduled to be sentenced Monday afternoon after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and a weapons violation in connection with the October 2017 fatal shooting of 22-year-old Evan Amos.
Stewart and 20-year-old James Perry were indicted Thursday initially on charges of aggravated murder, murder, and aggravated robbery.
Perry pleaded guilty earlier to involuntary manslaughter, aggravated robbery, and a weapons violation back in March. A sentencing date for Perry has yet to be scheduled.
Amos, an amateur boxer who trained in Youngstown, was shot several times during a robbery inside a house on South Lakeview Avenue.
A witness told police someone knocked on the door and shot the man when he answered it.
