Niles police save man after he injures himself punching window
Niles police saved a man who suffered a serious injury after responding to a domestic violence call.

NILES, Ohio - Niles police saved a man who suffered a serious injury after responding to a domestic violence call.
When officers arrived at the Timber Creek Apartments on Monday night, they saw 31-year-old Devonte Smith running around and yelling.
Officers say that the man was pacing within the apartment complex and then punched three large glass windows in the building.
According to the report, one of the windows Smith punched shattered and cut his arm.
Police say that Smith suffered two deep lacerations on his forearm.
After Smith injured his armed two Niles officers acted quickly to stop the bleeding.
Two officers who arrived on the scene applied two tourniquets to Smith's injuries. One was applied above Smith's shoulder and another below his wrist.
Police believe that the swift actions taken by the two officers saved Smith's life.
Patric Cox and Ryan Ifft were the two Niles officers that saved Smith. They both are military veterans who happened to carry tourniquets in their police cruisers.
Smith was immediately transported to the hospital after police applied the tourniquets.
Smith is facing a felony vandalism charge for the amount of damage caused in the Timber Creek Apartment complex.
