PETERSBURG, Ohio - Two Petersburg men, Rick Kuhns, and Jimmy Drummond won gold medals at the U.S. Parachute Association National Parachuting Championships in team accuracy earlier this week.
The competition took place at Skydive Paraclete XP in Raeford, North Carolina.
The duo's team, Skydive Rick's, won the Nationals gold medal in the team accuracy event for the 14th consecutive year.
Their win earned them spots on the U.S. Parachute Team, who will compete at the 2020 World Parachuting Championships in Russia.
Jumpers in the accuracy competition exit an airplane more than 3,000 feet in the air and then have to try to land on a dime-sized dot.
Kuhns, 70, has been skydiving since 1969, has completed more than 9,00 jumps and operates Skydive Rick's skydiving center in Petersburg.
Drummond, 45, is a firefighter with the Youngstown Fire Department and has made more than 10,000 jumps.
