BOARDMAN, Ohio - A suspected shoplifter ran through Boardman Intermediate School in an attempt to flee from police.

On September 9 just after 2:30 pm, Boardman Police were called to JcPenny's at the Southern Park Mall for a fleeing shoplifter that was last seen going behind the Landmark restaurant.

According to the report, when police arrived they saw the suspect, 40-year-old Joshua Zickefoose, enter the Boardman Center Intermediate School.

After police saw Zickefoose enter the building they contacted the school and told the faculty to place it on lockdown.

Police say that the Chief of the Boardman Fire Department flagged them down and pointed them in Zickefoose's direction after he saw Zickefoose hiding behind a vinyl fence.

Zickefoose reportedly told police that he thought the school was an apartment building but realized it wasn't after he saw students.

Zickefoose was then arrested and charged with theft, inducing panic, criminal trespassing, possession of criminal tools and resisting arrest.

According to the report, police took Zickefoose back into the JcPenny's and he was positively identified as the shoplifter by employees.
