A bicyclist was transported to the hospital after being hit by vehicle in Lordstown.
A Lordstown teacher was sent to the hospital after a vehicle hit her on her bike.
Lordstown police say 33-year-old Jenna Barvitski was hit just after 7 a.m. on the 2000 block of Salt Springs Road Wednesday morning.
School officials told 21 News that the teacher was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.
Police were questioning someone on scene, but no one has been charged, and the investigation is ongoing.
Barvitski was hit west of Lordstown High School, and Superintendent Terry Armstrong says some kids did see the scene of the accident.
He issued the following statement:
Lordstown Local Schools confirms that one of our teachers was struck on a bicycle on the way to the school this morning. Our entire school community’s thoughts are with the teacher and her family. As a district we have counselors available for our students and staff. Our teaching staff are there for our student’s needs as well. We will not be releasing the name of the teacher out of respect for the family as we keep them and those caring for her in our thoughts as well.
