Two Trumbull County fire departments receive FEMA grant

Two Trumbull County fire departments have been selected to receive additional grant funding from FEMA.
The Burghill Vernon Fire Department and the Johnston Township Fire Department were notified of the selection after just being included in another regional grant award around a month ago.
The departments were awarded $292,839 to split. Together they will have to pay a five percent share of the awarded funds totaling $14,641.95.
The funding will be used to replace out-of-date self-contained breathing apparatus and fire hose.
"This grant was sorely needed to update equipment that is essential to both agency's operations. We are also realizing an added benefit of 'interoperability', the ability for each fire department to seamlessly use each other's equipment as needed in the event of an emergency", said Chief George Snyder of the Burghill Vernon Fire Department.
