LIBERTY, Ohio - A female was killed after being struck by a car in Liberty Thursday night around 8:30 p.m.

State Troopers say the crash happened on Belmont Avenue near Handels.

According to the release, Shivani Bhatt of India was walking eastbound crossing Belmont when she was struck by a Ford Focus traveling northbound.

A juvenile female from Girard was driving the car and was uninjured.

Bhatt was transported to St. Elizabeth, where she passed away.

Dispatchers say that medical students attempted CPR on Bhatt.

That area of Belmont Avenue was closed for nearly three hours.

Liberty Police and Fire were also on scene during the road closure.

The crash remains under investigation.
