Director of Elections Jeff Greenburg told 21 News that 36 precincts encountered scanner issues when trying to scan folded absentee ballots Tuesday night. 

As a result, those precincts were instructed to return the good ballots in a special envelope that was provided for just such circumstances, and the election bureau will process a total of ninety eight ballots during the official canvass on Friday morning.

He added that 98 absentee ballots that will be counted at the courthouse. 

Results on the site should reflect nearly 99 percent of all ballots cast, but a small number will be added on Friday.

The ballot issues also caused delays in closing the polls, which resulted in delayed reporting of results.
