VIENNA TWP., Ohio -
The Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County needs help after seizing several dogs and a few cats from allegedly poor conditions in Newton Falls.
The agency brought in ten dogs and three cats on Monday. They're now pushed to capacity. On top of that, all year long officials said intake had been up about 20 percent. They attribute that to an additional humane agent covering more ground and the launch of new programs.
"It's one of those things we call an unintended consequence. It's a great thing we have these programs to offer. It's a great thing we have more humane agents out working in the community on behalf of the pets. Still, you have this unintended consequence of that means our intakes have increased by 20% this year, which costs more money, it takes up more kennel space. When our adoption rates aren't keeping up with our increase intake, then you get in the situation we are in now where we are full, and we're just looking for some people to maybe help us out," said Lori Shandor with Animal Welfare League.
If you're interested in helping, you can make donations and financial contributions. Also, adoptions are always needed. But, remember adoptions are a life-long commitment - not just a gift under the Christmas tree.
