A business that's been in the Southington Community for 50 years will soon close its doors for good.

Charlanne Farms on Warren Burton Road is set to close.

The 6,000 square-foot warehouse and butcher shop will shut down on Tuesday.

Over the years, the butcher shop's meats have won awards in state competitions, and have been enjoyed by the community.

"I do come here a lot. I like to support local businesses as much as I can. It's sad to see this place go. They're really nice people; they always have been. The prices are great, and the meats are great. This is sad," Krystina Gollner of Niles said.

People who have loved shopping at the marketplace say this is a big loss for surrounding townships and cities, and a bigger loss for people in Southington.

"It's kind of sad. I've been coming here for so long. I hate to see it go. I hate to travel out of town," Daniel Davis from Warren said.

His mom, Lois Davis from Southington, added, "I loved coming here to get lunchmeat for my husband. It was so convenient. The people are all so nice. There is now a Dollar General store we call Southington mall and a Hurd's Store. That's about it."

21 news asked to speak with the owners to find out why they were closing, but no one would comment.

We wanted to ask if the store's closing had anything to do with a lawsuit filed by one brother against the other in Trumbull Common Pleas Court this year.

In that lawsuit, both brothers allege wrongdoing by the other, but no one would talk with us.

The court record states there has been a settlement in the case.

We reached one attorney involved in this case this weekend.

Attorney Gil Blair told 21 News he could not comment.

We are reaching out to attorneys Randil Rudloff and Douglas Neuman for a comment about any settlement, and whether the store will reopen, or if there are any other plans for Charlanne Farms.
