NILES, Ohio - The Valley should know by Monday which business is taking the place of the now-closed Sears space in the Eastwood Mall.

In what Cafaro Company Director of Corporate Communications Joe Bell is calling “one of the biggest announcements in Eastwood Mall has ever made,” will be revealed in a news conference scheduled for 11 am Monday at the mall's Center Court.

21 News reported in November that mall officials expected to make an announcement this month revealing the name of a new retailer that will set-up shop in the space left vacant when Sears shut down operations there.

The closing of the Sears store, one of the mall’s anchor stores, was announced in October 2018 when parent company Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy.

At the time, Sears Holdings said that it would close 142 Sears and Kmart stores.

Since then, more stores have been closed, leaving the Valley with no remaining Sears or Kmart stores.

The Eastwood Mall Complex has more than 200 department stores, specialty shops, restaurants, hotels, and entertainment venues.
