LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - Lowellville started the new year with the hope of moving forward and becoming a destination for development.

Lowellville officials met Saturday morning to discuss new businesses and provide an update on the growth process within the village.

They have been looking at ways to attract new businesses to the area and have offered new options for entertainment and housing.

"With the dam renewal and the canoe launch project done, the next project is to expand Water Street westward to the canoe launch site. That would really open up development at the beginning or along that part of the river," Lowellville Village Engineer Chris Kogelnik told 21 News.

Officials told 21 News that there are also plans to develop Water Street on the east end.

Infrastructure projects are in the works for the central business district as well.
