State police investigate officer-involved shooting in Slippery Rock Township

SLIPPERY ROCK TWP., Pa. - One person was taken by a medical helicopter following an officer-involved shooting Monday morning in Slippery Rock Township in Lawrence county.
The shooting happened around 9 a.m. on Copper Road, where Pennsylvania State Police were called by a resident who reported a disturbance involving a woman.
Police say, Maria Rozzi, 55, of New Castle was found with a gun and refused to cooperate with officers.
In a news release, PSP said Rozzi had been living at the residence for several weeks and was involved in a verbal dispute.
Ultimately, the situation escalated and shots were fired, resulting in Rozzi being hit.
In the release, PSP said Rozzi was struck once and did not specify if one or both officers fired.
Rozzi was transported by helicopter to the hospital for treatment.
Pennsylvania State Police from New Castle and Butler were both on scene gathering evidence.
Two troopers have been placed on administrative duty, which is standard protocol in an officer-involved shooting until the investigation is over.
PSP said this was "an isolated incident" and said there are "no public safety concerns at this time."
Rozzi is facing charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, resisting arrest and harassment.
