SALEM, Ohio - The wait for more burritos is finally over. A new chipotle is headed to the city of Salem. Chip Hank, the city's zoning officer, has confirmed that there will be a new Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant at the corner of East State Street and Southeast Boulevard in Salem.

Hank says that the lease is finalized, and plans are being made to start construction just east of the Salem Regional Medical Center. The restaurant is expected to be set to be up and ready to go by the end of this year, according to Hank.

Mayor of Salem, John Berlin, says that he is excited or the economic growth that will come from the franchise as well as reducing the time that residents of Salem spend on the road traveling to other Chipotles.

Berlin stated that Chipotle is expected to bring in people from other communities that he is excited to welcome to the city of Salem.

As of right now, the lot is empty. However, previously, the former True North Shell gas station and convenience store once occupied it. The gas station and convenience store only closed a year ago.

Known for their burritos, tacos, quesadillas, bowls, and salads; Chiplotle's website touts "food with integrity" and fresh ingredients as well as the fast-casual restaurant style.
