SHARON, Pa. - Police in Sharon have charged a suspect with robbing a Huntington Bank location in November.

David Malcolm Ward is charged with two counts of robbery and one count of theft by unlawful taking.

The robbery occurred on November 29.

Police say they were able to identify Ward through community tips and examining Ward's criminal history.

According to the criminal complaint, Ward entered the Huntington Bank location with a black scarf covering his face and pulled out a black drawstring bag, telling the employees to put money in the bag.

Ward allegedly told employees not to push an alarm because he had a gun.

Police say Ward had another teller put money in the same bag before fleeing the bank.

Investigators say Ward confessed to the robbery after being picked up on unrelated charges in December.

Ward told the police that he spent some of the stolen money, and the rest of it was taken from his hotel room.

Police say Ward had several previous robbery convictions, including bank robberies, dating back to the late 1970s.

Ward is currently being held in the Mercer County Jail awaiting arraignment.
